Nov 10, 2016: Clinician Pitch Submission Deadline

Nov 15, 2016: Acceptance Notification

Dec 9, 2016: Workshop date

We invite clinicians to propose open clinical problems that need data-driven solutions. Proposals should be a one-page summary of a clinical or healthcare systems problem, focusing on the motivation, the available datasets, and a high-level overview of state-of-the-art. Proposals can also include preliminary analysis or an outline of analysis to be done. Selected abstracts will be presented as five-minute pitches during the workshop. These presentations will be followed by a discussion between clinicians and machine learning researchers to understand how machine learning can play a role in solving the problem presented. Ultimately, we want pitches to facilitate new collaborations between machine learning researchers and clinicians - creating a meaningful role for machine learning in healthcare. Feel free to contact us prior to submission for advice on focusing pitch objectives for the workshop. Travel funds will be available for a subset of the presenters.

Proposals should be uploaded in PDF format on the submission site:

The clinician pitch must include:

  1. Your name, affiliation and position, and contact information

  2. Short summary of the problem

  3. Why is this problem important?

  4. Brief overview of state of the art

  5. Available resources (e.g., datasets, investigator expertise)
